We strongly believe the tool of music was created by God as a form of prayer (communication with God) to serve the church. Whether it’s the act of singing or the use of instrumental music during prayer, music can quickly open our hearts and turn our minds to the Father to give Him thanks, praise, to hear from Him and to commit our lives to Him. These acts of worship are vital to corporate growth within the church. Ephesians 4 lays out the five-fold ministry on which God says He will build His church. We see our role as coming alongside these ministries and using our gifts to serve in whatever role best suits who we are serving.
We have a wide range of areas to serve in within the Worship Ministry and can be very flexible to people’s schedules and other commitments. Most of our teams operate on a 4 week rotation. Here is an overview;
We LOVE our choir here at Southland! Our Choir plays a very important role in our Sunday worship services as we view our worship as being ‘Choir led.’ It’s a great place to get involved whether you are new to the church or if you’ve been attending for years. It’s a great community of singers, but most importantly, worship leaders that thoroughly enjoy serving the church together.
Practices are on Wednesday evenings and we sing on Sunday mornings (minus the last song of the 11am service – done by 11:20am Sunday morning).
There is a lot of flexibility within the choir commitment, so if you are interested, please let us know and we can discuss what it would look like for you.
