Bonnie Koop

Board Elder

Bonnie Koop and her husband Jason were married in 2000 and began attending Southland Church together. Since then, they have been blessed with two sons. Bonnie loves spending time with her family, playing board games, watching sports, hiking, reading, playing piano, and going for coffee with friends. Bonnie currently volunteers as one of Brock Peters’ Prayer Partners. She also helps coordinate the Food & Clothing Drive, teaches in the Grades 1-4 area on Sunday mornings, and serves with the Prophetic Ministry team. Some of Bonnie’s passions are prayer and encouraging others in their walk with God. She also has a heart for helping people grow in their marriages and parenting. In fact, it was the focus of her university degree. She has previously served at Selah and helped teach Marriage Retreats with her husband.

Bonnie’s favourite passage of Scripture is Psalm 37:23-24. This has encouraged and steadied her in her parenting and homeschooling journey. She says, “I love that Jesus wants a relationship with me. I’m often reminded of Psalm 27:8, which says, ‘My heart has heard You say come and talk with me. And my heart responds, Lord I am coming.’ Sometimes I wonder how the God of the Universe could want to be with me – but He does! He knows me better than I know myself. He is kind and loving and truthful and wise. John 15:15 says that He calls me friend! I love that He wants to be with me and count me as a friend.”

Bonnie joined the Board of Elders in 2024.
